De Smet Trading Company is located in the small town of De Smet, South Dakota. Since we opened our doors in 2016, we’ve become a popular destination for for locals, tourists, and people just passing through.

Our shop is inspired by rustic, farmhouse style and old-fashioned, country charm. In addition to new items, including handcrafted merchandise made by local artisans, we also carry a variety of antiques and vintage – furniture, jewelry, home decor, ironstone, metalware, and so much more.  We love genuine, old pieces that are beautiful, functional, and often intriguing.

Many of our shop’s fixtures and shelving are re-purposed pieces of antique furniture that we purchased from local shops and tag sales while we were busy renovating our building’s interior.  My favorite piece is the checkout counter with clawed, metal feet that holds our 1912 National Cash Register.  Everything is perfectly complimented by our space’s plaster and exposed brick walls and the high, industrial ceiling.

The next time you’re in De Smet, we invite you to stop by for a visit.
